Surgery Scheduling FAQ's

Here you will find answers to some of our most asked questions.

How early should I arrive for surgery?

1.5 to 2 hours prior to surgery time. The hospital will call you the day before surgery between 4-5 pm to tell you exactly what time to arrive.

Will I have to be fasting?

Yes, you will not be allowed to eat or drink after midnight the night before surgery, unless it is a medication specified to be taken in that time period, you may do so with a small sip of water.

Where do I get the supplies for my bowel prep?

Everything listed on the instructions for bowel prep is over the counter and can be found at most major pharmacies.

Do I need a covid-19 test?

If you're having surgery at a hospital you will need a covid-19 test. The pre-operative department will call you to set up a state for the test. If you're having surgery at the surgery center you will not need a covid-19 test. They only require a covid-19 test for ears, nose, and throat cases.

When will I get called for pre-op?

Within a week of your surgery date. If you don't hear anything, call the facility that is performing your surgery to set it up.

Will I need to come back for an appointment after surgery?

Yes, you will need to call and schedule to come back for a post-operative appointment 7-10 days after the surgery date.

What do I do if need FMLA or short-term disability paperwork filled out? 

FMLA and short-term disability paperwork are to be filled out by the nurse of your surgeon. We are unable to fill out the paperwork until your post-operative appointment. Your employer can fax in the paperwork to (813)-654-4486 or you can drop it off at our office.
